Life insurance

Like a lot of people, I have no interest in life insurance. Stop trying to sell it to me! It seems my superannuation company realises that people aren’t interested, so they’ve come up with a new tactic: just start providing cover, automatically, unless people opt-out. Clever, but disappointing.

I’m sure I’ll cancel it shortly, but I did have a look through the booklet and note that suicide does not totally rule out a life insurance claim, although there is a 13-month no claim period from the start of the policy.

So, do I cancel the policy that I’m unlikely to commit suicide? Or do I let it sit there, just so I’m not ruling out a future option? I’ll talk about my views on suicide more in a later post. I just found the life insurance angle interesting. Now just to remember to cancel it…
